    Here’s the scoop on our foaming soap ingredients!

    Sodium cocoamphoacetate is an amber liquid derived from coconut. It has a fruity scent. Sodium cocoamphoacetate is a surfactant that allows water and oil to mix, thus allowing things to become clean. It also increases foam capacity and stabilizes foams. It can be found in personal care products such as shampoo, mousse, shaving cream, soap, conditioner, makeup, and our foaming liquid soap. 

    Lauryl glucoside is a non-ionic surfactant (cleanser) that is derived from coconut. It improves the cleansing process without stripping necessary moisture. It breaks surface tension so dirt and oil are lifted and washed away more easily. This is a great reason that you can find lauryl glucoside in shampoo, face washes, bubble bath, body wash, and our foaming liquid soap.

    Sodium cocoyl glutamate is a mild cleansing agent derived from coconut oil and the amino acid glutamic acid. This gentle surfactant produces a rich lather that has a stabilizing effect on the bubbles, allowing them to last longer before breaking down.

    Sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate is a surfactant that allows water, oil and dirt to mix, allowing things to become clean. It is also a foam booster and conditioning agent. It can be found in personal care products such as shampoo, body wash, facial cleansers, exfoliants, makeup remover, and our foaming liquid soap.

      - Is sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate the same as sodium lauryl sulfate?

    Nope! And this is where skincare can get confusing. It's a similar name and it's also a cleaning ingredient, but it's far gentler on the skin. 

    Polysorbate-20 is used for cleansing, being a non-ionic surfactant, as well as it’s used for emulsifying, meaning to prevent liquids that normally don't mix from separating – such as in our soap, when we need water and oil to combine. It’s derived from oleic acid, and is a mix of naturally derived and synthetic ingredients.

    Phenoxyethanol is an anti-bacterial, used to fight off bacteria in beauty products. It is also used as a preservative. Cosmetic products, soaps, and detergents are prone to going bad, just like the food we eat. Phenoxyethanol helps to prevent fungi, bacteria, and yeast from growing in your products. This gives them a longer shelf life and ensures safety.

    Caprylyl glycol is a colorless liquid with a slightly sweet scent. It's an alcohol derived from caprylic acid, a fatty acid found in coconut oil. Caprylyl glycol is used in cosmetics, personal care products, and some pharmaceuticals. It's used as a skin conditioner.  It's a humectant (which means it helps hydrate your skin), and stabilizer in products like moisturizers, cleansers, and sunscreens. It's also known to have antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. Caprylyl glycol is generally considered safe for most skin types.

    Sorbic acid is used as a preservative in a wide variety of foods. Sorbic acid retards the growth of yeast and molds and is usually added to foods as a salt. Sorbic acid is a naturally-derived preservative.

    Citric acid is used in cosmetics and personal care products as a preservative.
